Adulthood marks the beginning of one of life's
best seasons. Most adults have learned from their
adolescence and feel more confident and ready
for all the thrilling experiences that they will likely
encounter. It's an exciting time to explore a new
city, dig deeper into God's Word, and find meaning
through various vocations at home, work, school,
and within the family unit.
Adults have tons of opportunities to make a
difference in their world: by teaching Sunday
School to toddlers, coaching a soccer or softball
team, praying for a friend who is hurting, or
delivering a meal to a homebound church member.
Adults set the stage for the faith development of
younger generations and lead by example.
Carol is a married, middle-aged mom
of three. She believes in Jesus Christ
as her Lord and Savior, and she feeds
her faith through daily devotions and a
strong cup of coffee before the kids get
up for school. Carol's vocation at home
is to love, serve, discipline, and provide
for her children and her husband, Tom.
As a pediatric nurse, Carol cares for
sick children and their families on her
floor. Often, she lends a listening ear,
a hug, or a word of encouragement to
the parents and siblings she sees on
rounds. Despite the tough situations
that she experiences in her job, Carol
knows God is present and provides
peace, comfort, and healing to those
around her each day. Carol is active
in her church. She and her family
worship weekly, the kids attend Sunday
School, and she and Tom are staples
of Bible class. Carol also organizes
a quarterly blood drive at church.
The past year was not easy with the
passing of her mother and switching
shifts at work. Carol is reminded
of God's love and goodness when
she receives Holy Communion.
