Weber for SATB, piano, and optional flute. This setting features a flowing accompaniment and a lyrical melody with a memorable refrain. The flute part provides variety and effective text painting. Clark expresses sorrow at the troubles of the world and reflects on the suffering of Jesus, with hopeful hints of restoration. A gorgeous oboe part assists the congregation with the new melody and then ascends above in mournful optimism. Weber 2PT Mixed, PI This Transfiguration, send off alleluias before Lent with this lively and easy anthem for two-part mixed choir. The piece features a meter that goes back and forth between 6/8 and 4/4, which seems to suggest the tension between joyful alleluias and the coming solemn time of Lent. The piano part has fleeting modulations in the interludes, making for a fun and interesting accompaniment. Transfiguration Alleluia, Song of Gladness 984409 | $2.40 David McCarthy 2PT, PI, FH This breathtaking anthem makes the perfect piece for All Saints' Day or funerals. The sonorous horn as well as stunning quartal and quintal harmonies set a dreamlike stage. The two-voice texture in the choral part makes this beautiful work accessible for choirs of varying levels. While intended for use with a mixed two-part choir, this piece is easily adapted for equal two-part voicing. The text focuses on the account of the prodigal son and especially highlights the feast of love prepared for the son. This delicate and poignant setting is especially useful when the Lord's Supper is celebrated, for Holy Thursday, and when the account of the prodigal son is read.
