HB (3–4) This concertato begins mysteriously as the choir sings a setting of the plainsong upon which the hymn is based. After a brief interlude, the congregation sings the hymn, which culminates in a grand crescendo at the text "Holy is God, the Lord of Sabaoth." The setting closes with singing a coda based on the same plainsong as at the beginning. SATB In commemoration of the 500th anniversary of Johann Walter's collection Geystliche gesangk Buchleyn (1524), these three motets were edited and selected for their usefulness for modern choirs. Each piece may be sung as a stand-alone motet or with stanzas in alternation with the congregation. The titles are "From Depths of Woe I Cry to Thee"; "O Lord, We Praise Thee"; and "Salvation unto Us Has Come."
