The LV passages, martellato, and varied dynamics add interest for the listener and help to encourage musicality in the ringers. Level II. Sandra Eithun At the Lamb's High Feast We Sing 977977 | $4.25 Easter HB (3–6), Opt. HC (3–5) This lively arrangement of the tune cwm rhondda is filled with exciting rhythms and techniques. Malleted bass patterns in 7/8 meter accompany underneath the hymn tune, which is then reversed. A slower section follows, using LV handchimes in a flowing style. This arrangement will delight ringers, congregations, and audiences alike. Level IV. Cathy Moklebust God of Grace and God of Glory 978027 | $4.75 General HB (3–5) The tune erhalt uns, herr is set as a chorale arrangement with two variations. The first variation has the melody in the lower bells with an eighth and quarter note weaving motive. The second variation modulates to E minor and is slow- moving. The ending builds with shakes and to a final fortissimo. This piece works great as service music or as an introduction to the hymn. Level II. John A. Behnke Chorale and Variations on "Erhalt uns, Herr" 978030 | $4.25 Reformation/ General HB (3–5) Patricia Hurlbutt's arrangement of the tune llanfair is a joyful and bright Easter selection for 3–5 octave handbells. A variety of textures are used, such as the opening fugal presentation of the tune and the mart accompaniment and rung melody in the lower bells. Exuberant and uplifting, the setting finishes with a grand chordal flourish. Level II. Patricia Hurlbutt Christ the Lord Is Risen Today; Alleluia 977933 | $4.25 Easter HB (3–5) This is a touching setting of the beloved hymn arranged for handbells. The piece begins with an arpeggiated motive, leading into the first presentation of the tune in a flowing, soaring style. The second time through is dramatic, making use of mallets. The third and final variation of the tune is joyful with a bright climax at the refrain. Level III. John A. Behnke On Eagle's Wings 978028 | $4.50 General HB (2–3), Opt. HC (2–3) This arrangement evokes the power and majesty of the text. It begins with a straightforward harmonization, then has a contrasting stanza with the melody in the bells and the accompaniment in the chimes. The last stanza is active and rhythmic with accompanimental mallet work and solid chords. A great arrangement of this well-known hymn! Level II+. John A.
