How Do We Know There's a God?
As God's human creatures, there are certain
ways that we know there is a God. Reason, nature,
and experience reveal this to us. Read through
Question 35. Write down or sketch around the
head at least three of the four different ways we
know there is a God.
What Is God Like?
Though our reason tells us there is a God, it
doesn't tell us who that God is. Only God's Word
tells us this. God is triune: Father, Son, and Holy
Spirit. To remember, write down "three" on the left

Look over Question 37. In the space above,
write down the eleven adjectives that we get from
the Bible that explain what God is like (or His attri-
butes).
What Does God Expect from Me?
Read Exodus 20:1–5 together. This is the full wording of the First Commandment taken from the time

important for us to know to understand the timeless truth of the faith. Compare this to the Small Catechism
reading of the First Commandment. What's different or added?
Then, look through Questions 38–40 for explanation.
Discuss: What do these extra details add to our understanding of the First Commandment?
