Connections 20 The First Commandment is all about how we should fear, love, and trust in God above all things. He alone gives us our true security, identity, and meaning in life. Reflection How do I already fear, love, and trust in God above all things? How have I failed to fear, love, and trust in God above all things? Are there any errors I secretly be- lieve about God? What do I need to change in my life to better fear, love, and trust in God above all things? How Do We Know There's a God? As God's human creatures, there are certain ways that we know there is a God. Reason, nature, and experience reveal this to us. Read through Question 35. Write down or sketch around the head at least three of the four different ways we know there is a God. What Is God Like? Though our reason tells us there is a God, it doesn't tell us who that God is. Only God's Word tells us this. God is triune: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. To remember, write down "three" on the left side of the word. Then on the right side, write the word "one." The word triune literally means "three in one." That's the God of the Bible. Question 36 further explains this. Triune Look over Question 37. In the space above, write down the eleven adjectives that we get from the Bible that explain what God is like (or His attri- butes).
