Time to Talk in Teams Using Elementary Leaflets 6–8 minutes Ask Teams to open their Elementary Leaflets and complete the following activities. Review the directions. The Team Leader Pages (Director USB) have answers for "Talk It Over" and directions for the activities for use by the Team Leaders. Option: To use the Early Elementary Leaflets and/or Coloring Pages for kindergartners and first or second graders, see the Early Elementary insert included with this guide for directions. Talk It Over: God's Promise to Noah Team Leaders should help their Team open their group's Bible to Genesis 6 and 8. Remind them to leave the markers in place for the next group. Ask the Teams to talk about the Bible story using the Lesson 1 Elementary Leaflets, their Bibles, and the Team Leader Page for this lesson. As the Teams discuss, reset the room for the next rotation. Keep an eye on the time. Offer help as needed. When God saw that only one person and his family were still faithful believers, what did God decide to do? Why? (Genesis 6:17: God sent a flood to destroy everything. Genesis 6:11: All was corrupt and violent.) What did God ask Noah to bring on the ark with him? (Genesis 6:18: his family; Genesis 6:19: two of every kind of animal; Genesis 6:21: food for his family and the animals. Note: Chapter 7 shows that some animals came in seven sets of two, but that may be confusing for younger kids.) What did God promise Noah? (Genesis 6:18: God made a covenant with Noah. He told Noah to bring his family onto the ark where they would be safe and could survive the flood.) How did Noah know when it was safe to get off the ark, even though he didn't have binoculars and couldn't see all the land? (Genesis 8:6–12: Noah sent a dove out from the ark on three different occasions. When the dove returned with a branch, Noah knew the water was receding. When the dove didn't return at all, Noah knew it was time to leave the ark.) What did Noah do to thank God for keeping His promises? How did God respond? (Genesis 8:20: Noah built an altar and made sacrifices to God. Also see Genesis 9:11–13: God made another promise, that He would never again destroy the earth with a flood, and He put a rainbow in the sky as a reminder of His promise.) Put It on Paper: God Guides Me Team Leaders lead this activity using the Team Leader Pages. From the student leaflet, Team Leaders READ: God promised to keep Noah safe in a scary situation, and God kept His promise. God also helps us know what to do in difficult situations. How? Find and circle these things in the picture. God uses them to teach us and guide us when we aren't sure what to do. Look for these things: Bible, praying hands, pastor, church, stone tablets (Ten Commandments), music note. Give the kids time to color. As they work, encourage discussion. Talk about the things and people God uses to tell us about Himself and His will for us. READ: Remember, God's Word is full of His promises to us, and God always keeps His promises! If the kids run out of time, encourage them to finish at home. Pray before They Go Lead the group in this closing prayer: Loving God, we thank You for being faithful and keeping Your promises. How precious is Your steadfast love, O God! Thank You for protecting us in difficult situations, just like You protected Noah. Please help us to look to You when we can't see where we need to go or what to do. Use Your rainbows to remind us that You keep Your promises. In Jesus' name. Amen. Then direct the Teams to their next site. Looking Ahead Pick up props and straighten the area to get ready for the next group. Set up and practice.
