Why Rainforest Explorers Bible Challenge? God's precious Word is the focus of this site, where our goals are to explore and learn the Bible Memory Verse by connecting it to the lesson's Bible story, the Take- Home Point, and our lives each day. The Holy Spirit will have a powerful effect on the children in your VBS as they learn about God through His Word. Bible Challenge: What Happens Rainforest Explorers Bible Challenge is one of five rotation sites for the Teams following the Opening session. You could have as many as thirty-five people at your site during each twenty-minute rotation (five Teams, each with six children and a leader). Team Leaders will guide their groups through site activities as you direct. Bible Challenge Leader: What You Do Using the Bible Challenge pages, you will share God's Word daily through a variety of activities. The Team Leaders will guide their small groups in the activities you describe. What You Need: Leader Resources ■ Bible Challenge Leader Guide ■ Ask your VBS Director for access to the Director USB for Bible Memory Song audio and video music files and reproducible resources. The Passalong CD & DVD also contains the audio and video files of the Bible Memory Songs. ■ Media player The Basics ■ Team Supply Containers—bags or baskets for each Team to hold lesson supplies ■ Team Spots—tarps or blankets to designate a location for each Team to sit ■ A Bible for each group and one for yourself ■ Bible Code Poster (Director USB) for the Leader to use for each lesson ■ Bible Verse Code Signs for each lesson (Director USB); each day, duplicate and place a copy in each Team's Supply Container. ■ A portable bulletin board on which to hang the Bible Verse Code Signs ■ Bible Memory Verse Posters for each lesson from the Starter Kit. These can also be found on the Director USB. Getting Ready Do these things in the weeks before VBS to get ready for your week! 1. Read the Bible stories, lessons, and Leader Devotions (Director USB) to understand the Scripture and daily themes. 2. Pray, asking God to bless your work and prepare the hearts of the families and children so God's Word would take effect in them and accomplish His purposes for them. 3. Recruit one or two energetic helpers to assist you at your Bible Challenge Site. They will help you set up and prepare, assist with supplies, and aid with small- and large-group activities. 4. Check "What You Need" and the supply list for each day to gather materials in advance. 5. Gather materials, decorate, and make props. 6. Practice the Bible Memory Songs. Learn the actions by watching the Bible Memory Song Videos with files from the Director USB, or use the Passalong DVD to play the videos on a DVD player. 7. Print the resources from the Director USB. Each lesson uses the Bible Verse Code Signs. These should be printed on both sides, with the Bible reference on one side and one of five parts of the Bible Memory Verse on the other. The Bible Code Poster will help the children learn how to look up the verse in the Bible. 8. Learn to say the Rainforest Explorers daily Take- Home Point! 9. Practice activities you will do with the Teams. 10. Attend VBS training. Offer to demonstrate your site activities for the Team Leaders. 11. Have a Bible and refer to it often as the source of the Bible Memory Verse! Do these things each lesson at VBS! 1. Arrive early each day to make final preparations and pray with other volunteers. 2. Go to the Opening with the other Leaders and Teams to hear God's Word. 3. Put out or check the daily supplies for the Teams. 4. At the end of the day, put out the supplies you need for the next day. Put the next day's items in the Team Supply Containers for the Teams. 5. Put the next lesson's Bible Memory Verse Poster in position. Bible Challenge
