Frog Hop (small group) Materials: Bounce house How to Play: Jump with joy in this game! Make sure to let only one team jump at a time so it doesn't get too crowded. Jump around and have fun with this special treat! SAY: God created frogs with strong legs to hop and jump. He created us to be special, and He treasures us! Treasure Hunt (large group) Materials: Plastic eggs or small balls, 1 basket per team How to Play: Modify this egg-hunt game by challenging teams to find hidden treasure. If you use eggs, you may choose to fill them with a small treasure, such as the Bible verse of the day or a small treat. For older kids, ask them to search only for the color you designate. (Be sure to have equal amounts of each color.) The first team to find all their treasure wins. For younger kids, time the hunt and see which team's basket has the most treasure. SAY: We don't have to look for treasure. The best treasure of all is Jesus, and He finds us! Rainforest Falls (individual challenge) Materials: Wide bucket filled with water, clean and empty water bottle, tall and narrow bucket, stopwatch How to Play: Let kids take turns seeing how quickly they can fill the tall bucket with water. Mark a line on the bucket with masking tape. Kids will fill their bottles with the water and then pour out the water from the bottle, standing straight over the bucket. SAY: God loves and cares for us! He pours blessings into our lives! Bonus Games Slow Sloth, Speedy Sloth (team relay) Materials: Finish line How to Play: One volunteer is a caller. The volunteer will wait at the finish line and will say "Slow Sloth" and "Speedy Sloth." Relay teams will send a runner to cross the line and then return to the team to tag the next runner. For "Slow Sloth," the runners should crawl (or if on pavement, just move slowly). For "Speedy Sloth," the runner can run but must move arms as if swimming. SAY: Sloths are very slow. But did you know that they are great swimmers? When they swim, they can move very fast. Sometimes, it can feel like we're waiting and going slowly. Sometimes, it can feel like we're going super fast! No matter what, Jesus is always with us, and He leads the way. Flashlight Dash (large group) Materials: Miniature flashlights, one large flashlight per volunteer How to Play: Do you have an evening VBS? Play follow the leader with flashlights! The leader guides the way with the larger flashlight beam while others follow. You can divide into groups with several leaders lighting the way. For added adventure, end up at a "treasure." SAY: It's nice to have a leader when you don't know where to go. Jesus leads the way to the best treasure of all. He is the light of the world! 322049 978-0-7586-6657-4 Leader: RAINFOREST EXPLORERS! One hand on hip, one shading eyes, look around. GOD KEEPS HIS PROMISES! Point up with one hand. Teams: GOD KEEPS HIS PROMISES! Point up with one hand. JESUS LEADS THE WAY! Both hands point up. Take-Home Point!
